A! (GREAT (DISASTER
(Received This Day at 12.25. p.m.) SALONIKA, August 23. The fire was an awe inspiring sight a mile wide avenue of flame devouring everything in its course. V The entire business quarter on the seafront was destroyed causing enormous loss. The insurances are esti-' mated at two to three millions sterling. The Allied military rendered the utmost assistance, though the scarcity of water was a tremendous drawback. Each Allied army is providing for the destitute. The British alone are tending thirty ' thousand. While the fire was burning three enemy aeroplanes dropped bombs.
