THE BAZAAR.

A SUCCESSFUL OPENING

The Princess Theatre wore a very attractive appearance yesterday afternon and evening when the Bazaar in aid of the Returned Soldiers Assooiatio took place. The several stall-hoiu- ' era made a very brave display m articles of every description. Specially fine was the display of needlework, showing the great amount of labour that the many willing helpers had put into then efforts to make an attractive showing. There was adso a fine collection of vegetables etc., in the produce stall, the display of marrows and pumkins fully nearing out the query of one of those in charge thereof-—“ Have you a marrow? If not, why not!” The Stalls consisted of plain-sewing, fancy work, Returned Soldiers, Schools produce and refreshments and in each one there was a busy band of workers who were doing their utmost to gather in the much needed coins of the realm. That they I were successful the takings for the day amply prove, the sum of £BS being received, a very satisfactory amount. The Overseas Orchestra under Conductor W Perry supplied a very enjoyable progfyynime during; the evening, the ‘ opening day proving a successful one. CONTINUED TO-DAY. Tho Bafaaar was 'open again this afternoon and to-night the sale of work will be brought to a close. The doors will open at 7 o’clock, and a large attendance is expected. All the goods remaining will be offered a bargain prices and no doubt another good day’s business will result.

To-night there will be a special attraction in tho programme of entertainment provided by the Woodstock pupils of Miss Nancekivell. This will begin at 8 o’clock and should be very enjoyable as 'the performance is said to be an excellent one. '

To-morrow night between 8 and 9 o’clock the Princess Theatre will be open for thq drawing of the gold nuggets raffle for which the ohances have gono off «o well. Those desirous of securing chances in this valauble raffle should apply to Miss Carley or Mies Holliday without delay. At the theatre to-night and to-mor-row night is a large New Zealand flag whereon the names of folk may be inscribed for .one shilling. There are already some hundreds of names of names, and when filled tho trophy will be handed to tho Mayor of the town as a novel souvenir of the war since, and the effort, made to raise funds for patriotic objeots.
