BLENHEIM This Day.
The decomposed body of a woman was found on the beach at Ruakaka, Queen Charlotte Sound on Friday, ft was identified at the inquest on. Saturday ns Mary Jane Grant, employed with her husband James Grant, at Meadowbank station. The deceased disappeared on July 12, leaving a note saving she was getting out of it. The Jury found there was no evidence to prove how deceased got into tho water. Sbo was about 30 years of age and leaves two children. Her relatives reside at petone. .
COLONEL SLATER, DEAD. CIIRISTCH U’ROH, This Day. The death of Colonel Henry SlafeT V.D. recorded in his 79th year. Ho came to New Zealand in 1859 and entered the legal profession. He was intimately Connected with the volunteer movement' from 1865 when ho joined the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry and was in command of the Corps till 1885 when lie raised tho Canterburv Mounted Rifles.
