The “United Press” correspondent states that tho British attacked on a two mile front in daylight from Ypres to the Zonnebeke Road, and from near Freizeberg to the Ypres-Menin Road. Sir Douglas Haig reports We attacked and completed .the capture of , Westhoek and secured the remaining' positions on Westhoek Ridge. The French upon our left flank on the battle front continue to progress eastward of Monchy lo Preux blew in dugouts.! Great damage was inflicted, with severe casualties. LONDON, Aug. 11. Mr. Phillip Gibbs reports: There was heavy fighting this morning southeast of Westhoek, after artillery, activity all night long. Later the fighting was more difficult as the enemy’s rearward machine-guns took advantage of tho cheek caused to our troops by tho wire entanglements in the woods. We gained the main points, attacked in the left; indeed we did more for, i:u.mcn impetuously advanced too far and bad to be recalled. The Admiralty -reports our naval airmen dropped several tons of bombs on «the Ghistelles aerodrome, the Zuidwege railway sidings, and the Thourout junction on Thursday night. Dense clouds of smoke were caused at Zindwege. The machines also attacked by gunfire the railway junctionat Thourout. We bombed the aerodrome nt Saparappellioek on Friday. General Haig reports the enemy reattacked in the morning tho poßnuona northward of the Ypres-Menin road, and pressed us back slightly. Skouloudis «ua Gounaris contracted a Gorman loan of 80,000,000 marks in 1916 through the National Bank of Greece. The first instalment of 40,000,000 nuarku waa paid simultaneously with the surrender of Fort Rupel. The Lambros Cabinet early in 1917 contracted a German loan of 40,000,000 marks, but the blockade prevented its completion. ,
