NOTICES OF MOTION

1. The Chairman to move : “ That the accounts presented for the month of July, 1917, as revised and recommended for payment by the Finance Committee, amounting to £ : be passed for payment,”

2. The Chairman to move : “ That on the occasion of the third anniversary 7 of the declaration of a righteous war this Council on behalf of the in* habitants of the County of Westland, records its inflexible determination to continue to a victorious end the struggle in maintenance of those idea's of Liberty and Justice which are the common and sacred cause of the Allies.” '

3. 'The Chairman to move: “Thai: in pursuance of the provisions of the Rating Act, 1 DOS, and its amendments, and under and by virtue of Section 1i 7 of the Counties Act, 1908, a general rate of six farthings in the £ sterling, upon the capital value of the rateable property of the

County of Westland, as appearing on the valuation- rolls now in'force, be now made; the said rate to be for

the year commenced on the Ist day of April, 1917, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1918, and to he payable in one instalment at the office of the County Council of Westland at Hokitika on the 21st day of August, 1917.”
