At the result of the inquest on Irene Quinn the Coroner considered mere was no direct evidence as to how the deceased got into the water, and he rej turned an open verdict. ! HEAVY-ANTI-SHOUTING FINES. BLENHEIM, This Day. The Magistrate heard 33 cases of breaches of the anti-shouting law, against twelve persons, including two publicans. Inspector Marsack prosecuveo. Two constables from Wellington came over and wont round the hotel*. One Publican was fined £25 ‘ and costs; the wife and another of £l2 and costs, two men £lO and costs, three £5 and costs, one, £1 and costs. GAS WORKSSTOKERS. FINED £S~EACH. WELLINGTON, July 25. Tlie case of the Gas Stokers came before Mr. McCarthy S. M. again today. It was stated that there was no material change in the situation since last week. The Company had offered to take some of them back, but they had refused to go. The Magistrate fined each aeiendant £5 and costs for seditious strike. He said the case was not one for imprisonment and so fixed no alternative.
