BY Order in Council, dated the 4th July, 191/, the Second Division of . the Reserve has been divided into , 1 the following classes: s (.. Class A.—To comprise all Reservists j „ of the Second Division who for I the time being have no childrenj Class B. —To comprise all Reservists . of the Second Division who tor the time being have one child. .Class C.—To comprise all Reservists of Second Division who for the time being have two children. j Class D. —To comprise all Reservists of the Second Division who icr the time being have three children. - Class E.—To comprise all Reservists of the Second Division who for the time being have four children. Clnss F.—To comprise all Reservists ... of the Second Division who for the time being have more than four, children. 1 For the purposes of the classification the term “child” is used irrespectively of age, and includes a child legally ■adopted before the Ist May, 1915; a step-child if the Reservist married the " mother ,• of that child before the Ist May, 1915; and an illegitimate child of the Reservist if the Reservist married the mother of that child- before the Ist May, 1915. A child who has been legally adopted by any other person may not be counted as a child of bis natural parents. Any son of a Reservist who has died while a member of any of His Majesty’s Military or Naval Forces engaged in the present war may he counted as if he had been still living. By a War Regulation dated the 4th July, 1917 ,every Reservist of the Second Division is directed within ten days after Welnesday, the 11th July, 1917, to deliver to a postal officer at any post office, upon the printed form obtainable at any" post office, a true statement of the number of his children as on the above date. Nothing, however, in this Regulation applies to any Reservist who has already furnished to tho Government Statistician, either under the National Registration Act, 1915, or the Military Service Act, 1916, sufficient information as to his children to enable that Reservist to b p properly classified as on Wednesday, 11th July,' 1917. Every Reservist is required, within ten days after such change, to notify the Government Statistician by registered letter any change that taxes place in the number of his children after Wednesday, the 11th July, 1917. Any Reservist who fails to fulfil any of the above obligations or who makes, any false representations relative 'to his'children is guilty of an offence, and is liable under tho War Regulations Act, 1914, accordingly. THE following regulations were mm before the members of the Westland Trotting Club at a meeting held on the 17th. day of November, 1916, at Hokitika with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Sellers, that the same be passed at o n ce with a view to their approval by bis Excellency the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. Sellers the Chairman of the Club and of the meeting moved, “That it be and hereby is resolved that such regulations be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorised to sign the same in authentication thereof.” The motion was seconded by Mr Thompson, and carried. The following are the regulations referred to:— WESTLAND TROTTING CLUB. REGULATIONS. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) In pursuance, and in exercise of tnd powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Westland Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (and hereinafter referred to as “the said Club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the raceoaurse reserve situate at Hokitika and set apart for racing purposes, and known as the Westland Racing Club Racecourse, while the same is used or occupied by the said Club for its meetings. I—ln these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “trotting clubs,” and “race meetings” shall have the meanings ascribed them by section 3 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 2.—The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the said racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said Club for race meetings, namely: (a) Bookmakers. (b) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any trotting ciub in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Trotting Association, j (c) Common prostitutes, and vseri sons who habitually consort 1 . with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. The foregoing regulations of the Westland Trotting Club were made and adopted by the said Club at the meeting held on the 17th day of Novembei, 1916, and signed by CHARLES J.
