General Haig reports: We drove off raiders westward of Queant, some being prisonerod. There was great aerial activity yesterday. A large number of bombs Were dropped on - enemy aerodromes and ammunition dumps. We carried out eight other successful raids, and brought down four German aeroplanes and drove down six. Three of ours are missing. XIEUPORT ATACK. ° G'nit d ,r ’""" s ’ n LONDON, July 12. French commentators stato -that the Germans’ most powerful attack at Nieuport succeeded by its first shock in giving them a local advantage, but it was only temporary as the British shortly afterwards returned to the offensive and obtained full mastery of the coastal region. A FRENCH REPORT. LONDON, July 12. A French communique states: There is lively artillery activity in tho Champagne and on the Aisno. Enemy attacks south of the Juvincourt sector and at L’Affaux Mill were easily repulsed. Several attempted enemy coup do main, after bombardment of tho sector from L.,j.i 30-1 to north oi Hnrdaumont work failed.
