Mr. V. W. M. Bonaf, received a tele gram on Saturday, stating 'that his brother, Private Horace Bonar, was fjfill seriously ill.

-Mr. I). Tennent of Grey mouth has been advised that his son Lieut. It. Tenr j jit, has.been missing since Juno 26th. Lieut. Tennent left with the 15th Reinforcements and word was received last month that he had gone safely through the Battle of Messines.

Rev. J. W. Griffon, the well-known Methodsit Minister lias beon advised tha this third son, Corporal Horace Griffen was killed dn action on June 4 in tlie big push on the western front. Corporal Grffen left with the Ninth Reinforoefents, was very well-known in Dannevirke, and was for some years employed on tlie staff of the Bank of New Zealand, afterwards being transferred to Mangaweka. A brother (Private George Griffen) some months ago had a foot blown off by a shell and will soon he returning to New Zealand.
