At a meeting of the District Com mittee of the Canterbury Jockey Club it was resolved that having strictly adhered to the basis of an agreement arrived at between the Cabinet and th© New Zealand Racing Conference on June Bth the committee demurs against th© introduction of further conditions and is strongly averse to re-opening the matter. EXPORT PROBLEMS

A representative meeting of pa'storalists and dairy farrnors to-day discussed the export problem. It was decided to ask the President of the 1’ armors Union to call meetings of farmers in each centre to discuss th 0 matter, and the appointment of delegates to attend a Dominion conference.

To-day’s meeting expressed the opinion that, in order to onoourago the erection of additional cold storage accomodation for dairy produce the Government should pay storage on the samo basis ns arrangements for meat. The meeting finally passed a motion ‘That should tho necessity arise for th 0 sacrifice of exports, such sarifico should bo made mutually by all producers.”

Replying to Mr Witty’s, question criticising a recent medical examination under the Military Service Act in Christchurch the Minister of Defence explains that som© men who wen-, olassed “A” and pnssod as fit for foreign servico were re-examined shortly afterwards and classed “C2,” found' fit for horn© service only- Re-examin-ation is authorised by tho DirectorGeneral of Medical Services or a medical officer deputed by him upon evidence being submitted which justifies a re-examination. Answering complaints of profiteering in New Zealand'meat in England, Mr Massey says it is understood that the Food Controller intends to fix maximum retail pricos for all descriptions of meat. The High Commissioner advised on June 20th that not excessive profits were being mnd© on New Zealand meat, unless by retailers who were uncontrolled. -
