A SOLDIER'S LETTER.
Writing from France on April sth. Private William Burrowes of Kanjeri, to hjs sister, in the course ol ail interesting letter says where they are camped there are any amount of Ft--os's shells flying about at times. At present they were doing trench du'idmz. •'«.» place being Viddled u'ith shell holes. Me came across Toni Hutchison lately and lie seemed to he standing t,he strain all right. Have Mclntosh from South was killed by one of Fritz’s “pineapples” (a species of bomb), one of the many “nice” things they keep putting over our way There are plenty of aeroplanes flying and it is good (,o see ours and the enemymachines having a smack occasionally A couple of ours and one of Fritz’s came down recently one of ours caught (-tiro and came down in flames ,aml)the t"’o on hoard were burnt to death. T •«; what was left of the plane and it was not a nice sight. We haye a comfortable but and the weather on the whole is improving and am not sorry the winter is over.
