WELLINGTON, June 29. The following are included in the latest casualty lists—- ’ KILLED IN ACTION.
Sapper C. L. Lewis, Field' Engineers, June 10.—Mrs A. R. Lewis, Westport, mother.. Private H. R. Black, Wellington Infantry, June 7th Airs 11. Black, AA est port mother.
AVOUNDED. Corporal F. J. AW Pain, Auokland Infantry.—E. Pain, Reefton, father. Lance-Corporal 11. Power, Rifle Brigade June ItOh.—AW Power, Reefton, mother. Rifleman J. AW Potts, Rifle Brigade, Juno 10th.—Airs P. Potts, Greymouth, mother.
Airs Phelan of Kumara' has been advised that her son, Private Thomas Phelan, was wounded on France on June 18th.
>Bergt. Jack Lalolli was wounded in Franco on Juno 12th. The gonial "Jack” enlisted at Runanga. Ho was previously on the railway staff at Greymouth .
Private R. J. Cairns, nephew of Airs P. AlcKenzio, has been killed in action, Private Cairns, who left with the 14th Reinforcements, enlisted at the age of eighteen years, and had not attained hia twentieth birthday when the call came. His mother resides in AVellington.
Mr and Airs H. E. Debenham, of Jacksons, received word thnt thoir son, Private Charles Debenham, who enlisted with th© 21st Reinforcements, had died of sickness.,Tho deceased soldier, who
has two brothers at the front, was only ; 23 years of age, and was well known and ' popular in the Jackson’s district. Mr. Donald Black of Black’s Point, has received advice that his brother, Private H R. Bk&k had died of wounds. The deceased enlisted in Wellington when 23 years of age, being the only unmarried son left in the family, and left with the 19th Reinforcements., He was wounded on June Bth. His mother Mr* H. Black, residos at Westport-.
Mr. John Harris, of Reefton htt s boon. 1 advised that Rifleman H. E, Harris has 1 been killed in action. The soldier was ( the youngest member of this 2 well-known fighting family, nnd at the present time there are three other members in the firing Ine. Ho was wounded in the fighting in France on Septem- • ber 7th. but since then had recovered and gone to the front in France. Ho enlisted in the 7f.h Reinforcements (Lord Liverpool’s Own) and was ft very young man, being only 22 years of age.
Private L. Doreen, killed in action, was a son of Mr. and Airs Doreen, of Antigua Street, Sydenham, Christchurch. H© was twenty-one years of ago and was - educated at the AVest Christchurch School. For about five years be worked on the staff of Mason, Struthers Ltd, and later was employed by Mr. L. King, hardware merchant. Private Doreen played hockey for the Selwyn Club, and gained many admirers for Ms good clean game. He-was » brother of Ernest J. Doreen formerly of the Lands Office, Hokitika. \■ - . .
