At the Australasian Methodist Conference, Dr Fitchett moved:—“That it is the duty of the Christian Churcii to discover and assess tlio moral causes of the war.” For the guidance of the Methodist Church this was followed by a series of resolutions recording the Conference’s judgment therein. These resolutions declare: “ That there is overwhelming pi oof that the guilt rests on Germany and Austria.” “That the fight is one of honour against dishonour, truutli against falsehood, love against hate, and ethics of Christianity against the ethics of Paganism.” , “That this is essentially a spiritual waiy winch will be decided by spiritual forces and righteousness must prevail the God of righteousness must prevail against unrighteousness.” “That as a result of the war the political ideals and methods of all nations will be lifted to a high level, and the laws of God have, new authority in mutual affairs.” The Conference decided to change the total local to lay preacher and also that the New South Wales Conference meet the New Zealand Conference to provide an exchange for -Rev. Sims. Australia, where it would bring Is per lb.”
