lbe death took place yesterday afternoon at tbe Grey Hospital of Mr Martin Hogan; of Maori Gully. Deceased came to the Coast in 1866 and settled in Maori Gully where he followed gold-mining ibr some years. Later he wont to Maori Creek, but - after a time he returned to Maori Gully where he remained until some eighteen months ago, when he had to enter the Gray River Hospital. The late Mr Hogan was a native of County Clare, Ireland, where he was born in 1843. Deceased in his early days on the Coast was a noted athlete, and will be remembered for his good performances, especially in sack raoes. Mr Hogan was never married. He was of a kindly disposition anu was ever ready to contribute to charitable causes.'
