ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONS.

The programme for Anzac Day covers a full day’s arrangement. It will be a general holiday, and Monday nest being also St George’s Day, the banks will close in addition to the public offices. The echools will likewise observe a holiday, and bun ing is to bo flown on all buildings, while shipping is to bo b3decked. At 11 a.m. the returned soldiers are requested to meet at the Soldiers’ Club room, Hamilton Street, for the purpose of forming a branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Asssciation. The ruen will also be addressed by representatives of tbs Patriotic Committee who will place befote those present the Government scheme for assistance to man to take up technical training, and also generally in regard to the finding of employment for returned men. At 12.30 o’clock all the returned men and any visiting eolditf'3 on leave will be entertained at luncheon as the Dominion Hotel. Revd Canon Taylor, lately returned from Prance ard Gallipoli, has been invited to attend at this function.
In the afternoon at 2.30 o’clock a procession will be formed at tna Town Hail to march toOass Square. Procession will be composed of the Band, Returned Soldiers, Territorials, Cadets, Veterans, National Reserve, scholars and citizens. On arrival at the Square, the public will be addressed by the Mayor, the County Chairman, the clergy and citizens. The National Anthem and other hjrune will be nn; g, tho b>'nd playing the acoompsmm-n-8. The vnembas of the united choirs are invited to attend and assist with tho musical pro-
gramme. At 7 p.m. memorial services will be held in the churches, as arranged by the local clergy.
A patriotic entertainment ia to be held at 8.15 o’clock in the evening. This function will be under the auspices of the Overseas Club. The principal speakers will be the Mayor, RBvd P, B. Fraser, and it is hoped Revd Canon Taylor. Special selections will be rendered by the Overseas orchestra while Borne of our leading lady and gentlemen amateurs will assist with the vocal programme. The arrangements will be completed in a day or two, and the programme published. Admission to the entertainment will be 2/ and 1/, and the gross proceeds will go to tbe object in view, there being no deduction for expenses, It remains for the public io make the commemoration in every way worthy the great occasion it calls to mind.
