Haig’s Report
Further Progress(AusH’Jian & N.Z. Cable Association and Renter.) LONDON, April 10. General Sir Douglas Haig reports tliat operations wore energetically continued, despite heavy snowstorms and reached the outskirts of Moncliy de pioux, five miles eastward of Arras. We cleared Fairbin wood after hard fighting in the afternoon and the northern end of Vimy Ridge gaining further prisoners and important positions. We advanced our lino northward of Louvral. The enemy counter attacks at different posts were unsuccessful. The number of prisoners taken since yesterday morning exceeds eleven thornsand including 23d officers. We captured over 100 guns a number being of the heaviest-, up to eight incite 8 sixty trench mortars. 1(53 machine-guns. There was valuable aeroplane work. In many cases we machinegunncd hostile rein forcemcnts. Bombing expeditions to a large railway station hit three trains.
