AN APPALLING STORY.
Poison Gas Episode.

(Received March ], at 10.30 a.m.) Petrograd, Feb 28 The Novoe Vremya published an appalling story of German poison gas exterminating the entire papulation of a Galician village. The Russian troops posted in villege had barely time to put oSr their masks, before the attack was lauuched.
The Russians readily repulsed this, but the civilians were wiped out, women being driven mad with terror at tbe sight of the oncoming greenish vapour bringing certain death. They killed tbe children with their own hands, to save theca from the torture, (Some refuged in the churches, but the fatal cLnd kilted them.
The Russian soldiers returning after the fight, were confronted with the ghastly spectacle cf the bodies of men, women and children, in attitudes testifying the unspeakable Bufferings that the victims had undergone.
