“Iris,” To-night
Tomight will aee the screening of the tragic a‘ory of “Iris,” written by Sir Arthur Pinero, produced by the Hepworth Company and the leading roles taken by Henry Ainly, Alma Taylor and Stewart Jerome. “ Iris ’’ stands nut as one of tbo leading photoplays of the day, The theme of the play is a daring one, putting forth-as it does the questiou.of terrible decision to he made of a woman whose noblest sentiments have been tested to breaking point by a series of crushing circumstances and an inherent weak nature. Two paths were before her, the man she loved and poverty; the roan who loved her, “ Maldano ”, and luxury and dishonor, the tragedy of a soul, the pity of it. The mounting, dressing and photography are of the best. Special mention may be made of the scenes taken round the famous lake district in the north of England. ‘‘Charley Chaplin 1 ’ will be seen in a 2,000 feet feature, “ The Fireman,” a good knock about quick actioned fire comedy by the Chaplin Mutual Company.
