POLLARD'S PICTURES
“ Iris.”
Sir Arthur Pinero’s celebrated tragic drama "Iria” that features Henry Aiolry and Alma Taylor in the leading roles, will be screened tomorrow (Wednesday) evening by Pollard’s Pictures at tbe Princess Theatre. "Iris” tells tho stoiy of a good, noble, but inherent, weak woman, who by an overwhelming succession of circumstances departs from the ccd6 of honour she bad set herself. It is tbe tragedy of a woman’s soul, who has two paths before her, the man she loved and poverty—the man, MaldODad’s Luxury—and dishonor. That is thß terrible tragedy and pathos of it. Henry Ainley. the matinee idol, tbe impersonator of tbe " Prisoner of Zenda ” and "Jel f o” joined tbe Hepworth Company for the one production and in conjunction with Miss Alma Taylor and Stewart Jerome, a magnificent portrayal of Sir Arthur Pinero’s very etronsr vraik is given. Tbe whole production is goed, many ecenee being taken round tbe famous lake district in the norlk of England. The comedy portion of tbe display will be in the bands of the laughter maker “ Charley Chaplin ” wbo will be seen in the 2,000 feet comedy, “ The Fireman.”
