Conference at Grey

Last evening a conference of delegates representing local bodies and others interested in the production of lime on the West Coast, primarily for agricultural purposes, was held at the Greymouth Borough Council Chambers. A committee was set up corsistiog of Messrs Webb, Greenslade, Wheeler* Ryder, Ryall, Ward, Coates, Betts and Perkins, to carry onfc the above proposal, and to get a further final report from the Government as to whera the plant should be erected. The committee met immediately and resolved to ask the Government to send Mr McTaggart down from Wellington again to select a site. Messrs Webb and Ward wers instructed to interview tbo Minister of Public Works (Hon W. Fraser) while he is visiting the Coast and ask if resident Government engineers be permitted to act in oonjunction with the committee, so that the cost of patting in the plant could be estimated,
