“ Carmen”

The William Fox photo-play drama " Carmen ” will be screened ou Tuesday next at McLean’s Piotures, The story of the beautiful Spanish gipsy ia too well known to need elaboration, Carmen lives bat to conquer ihe hearts of men, but in the conquering she eventually comes into contact with a passion stronger than even her own vanity, aud to the vengeance of her discarded lover Jose she finally falls a a victim. The picture is produced with most lavish attention to detail, the scenes of the Spanish streets, the interior of the cigarette factory, and the final great toreador scene being particularly well carried out. There are also some very fine glimpses of mountain scenery, all of which assist in making a picture of unusual interest. The photo-play version of this well known opera is reported to be remarkable on account of the elaborate attention which has been given to matters of detail, and the acting of Theda Bara, late of ihe Theatre Antoine, Paris, loaves nothing to be desired, Spectacular effect is obtained by such sensational scenes as a bull fight and a horseman leaping from a high cliff.
