A Women’s Riot(Received Feb 21, at 10.5 a.m.) New York, Feb 20 After riotously destroying the push cart peddler’s stocks of vegetables, hundreds of Ghetto women with babies demonstrated ut the City Hall and park, demanding that -the Mayor reduce the prices of foodstuffs. The police arrested the ringleader, whom the women unsuccessfully at. tempted to rescue. The police scattered the women, after the Mayor had promised to receive a deputation to-morrow. N.Z. London, Feb 20 In the Commons, Mr Stanton asked Hon Long whether he had Been the report of the Colonial Consignment Company, pointing out the effort of the Chicago beef monopoly to corner New Zealand’s meat output, and whether his attention had been called to the secret operations of the meat trust in New Zealand. Whethst seeing the irritation and suspicion that exists in New Zealand regarding the wheat companies being under American control, ha will, immediately confer with Mr Massey regarding the steps necessary to keep this source of Britain’s food supply free of foreign influence. Hon Long replied:—“My attention ’has been drawn to the matter and I am in commuuicationlwith Mr Massey, with a view to considering whafc action I can take.”
