French Freighter Sinks One
(Received Feb 20, at 11.50 a.m.) New York, Feb 18 The French freighter Guayne has arrived from Bordeaux,
The captain reports that a sub* marine attacked him off the Frenah ooasfc, firing three shots without result.
The Gnayne fired two 65 millimetre shells. The second shell hit the submarine which showed evidence of distress and sank.
There was a jubilant celebration on board the Guayne.

A correspondent s t French Headquarters says attacking west of Morstone de Champagne the enemy carried the line over a two mile front. It represents a gain of 800 yards. The attack was preceded by a fierce bombardment. The barrage cut off the French front line. The success is not disquieting to the French, as they can retake it at will.
