THE LATE DR MCNAB
No Will Discovered
Wellington, Feb 10
Search m every direction bas failed to bring to light tbe will of the late Hon Mr MeNvb, if there ii any document of the kind in existence. The deceased gentleman was always reserved in regard to privtte affiirg, and ia said to have mentioned some years ago that he would not trouble to make a will, but would leave ihe disposition of his property to the operation of the law. This would result in the estate being handed to the Public Trustee for administration, and it is understood that the Pablic Trust Office already has the lute Minister’s affairs in hand.
The operat : on of the law in regard to intestate estates in New Zealeud would preclude any possibility of public benefactions, but this had been considered by the deceased in his lifetime, for he made over tbe whole of his valuable collection of books on New Zealand to the City of Dunedin. This generous act caused him some personal icconvenieoca in continuing his historical work, and for that reason he had bogun to collect duplicates of many of the more important volumes.
