A Roumanian Traitor.
PAKIS, Feb. 11 The Roumanian General, Socecu, lias been condemned by courtmartial ' at. Jassy to five years’ penal servitude and degradation for betraying the Roumanian Army under his command on December Ist, 1916. While executing a plan by General Beretheloit, the head of the French military mission in southern Roumania, the Army made a vigorous offensive at the river Orgtliu against German-Bul-garian troops who crossed the Danube, advancing to Bucharest. The enemy were thrown back in disorder a dozen mles. iSocecus’ army turned the enemy's left cutting them off completely from General Falkenhayn’s army. Then General Berthelot wirelessed Paris announcing the success, adding that he intended to drive Mackensen to the Danube, but 'Socecus instead of continuing the pursuit remained inactive, and when ordered to advance Socecus commanded liis army to retreat, and thus Mackcnsn was saved.

Soldiers’ Deaths
WELLINGTON, Feb. 12
Private John Balton Tree died at Trentham Hospital to-klay from syncope.
Private Robert Cambridge died at Featlierston Military .Hospital but the cause of death is as yet unknown.

Further, his Majesty has conferred the rank of Brevet Lieut.-Colonci upon Major C. E-. MacDonald of the Royal "Warwickshire Regiment, Chief Infantry Instructor for the Dominion Forces. CASUALTY LIST. Removing Lunatics

The latest German atrocity in Belgium is that the military authorities have removed three hundred lunatics from Bruges asylum without allowing their guardians to prepare a reception for them elsewhere.
