Jansen, ihe Dt.nish engineer, has invented a torpedo shock absorber. If. consists of an armouied be't placed around warships and merchantmen and containing thin plates, combined with Belleville springs. There is an air vacuum between the plates which, with tho o'&p.tichy of the eprii carses an upward expksicn, instead of a forward explosion in so the side of a ship. Prominent fkauciers have formed a syndioite to experiment with the invention.
