Dominion Finance. Wellington, Jan 13 The Acting Minister of Finunoe has issued a statement showing the revenue and exosoditure of the Dominion for nine mouths ended December 31. Notwithstanding the deficiency on the month of December oompared with previous years, the figures show an ?c----oreese for nine month* of £1,043,133 over the corresponding period of 1915. The principal items of revenue are Custom £2,923,763, stamps and death duties £i,255,476, post and telegraph £.1,251,578, railways £3,478,561. The expenditure was £10,088,204> oompared with £9,165,550 for a simiar period in 1915.
Motor Car Fatality. Gore, Jan 15 A motor accident occurred near Heriot yesterday, when John Henry Black, aged 12, was killed. Hia parents reside at Gere. The boy wag spending his holidays at Heriot and his father was bringing him home. The ocoupaats of the car were two brothers of deceased, the father, mother and a little girl. The tyre burst coming down a hil) and the oar dashed into the bank. George Black was injured internally and bis condition is serious. The others received outs. A Sedition Charge Christchurch, Jan 16 T. Armstrong, a waterside worker at Lyttelton, has been arrested on a charge of using aeditiona utterances ai a meeting of anti-oonscriptioniats at Christchurch on Deo 31.
Service Appointments. Wellington, Jan 16 Hon James Alien stated to-day that some time ago General Godley communicated with him pointing out that General A. H. Russell had only a temporary appointment as MajorGeneral and asking that the promotion Bhould be permanent. It has been decided to approve of the appointment of Brigadier General Robin as Major-General, and also the appointment of General Ruasell to the same rank, A Good Giver. Timaru Jan 16 Edgar Jonep, formerly of Mount Nessing, who returned some months ago from England, has offered through the Red Cross Society to give a complete motor bus balance for uae of New Zealanders at the front. The only condition is that, it be called the Timart ambulance. The cost ia estimated at £750. Jones previously gave a large donation towards ambulance work while at Home and has boan a generous contributor to various funds.
