Ashburton, Jan 15 The district was visited by a thunderstorm this afternoon, together with violent hail storm, the bail stones being as largß as pigeons eggs. Several hundred panes of glass were broken in veraedahe.
The storm did not cover a wide area but did considerable damage to fruit'crops ar.d stripped the leaves off trees.
