HOKITIKA HARBOR BOARD
The Board met list evening at 7.30 o’clock. Present—Messrs R. Wild (Chairman), G H. Chapman, F. McGregor and J J. Mclntosh. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed and outward correspondence'read and approved.
INWARD CORRESPONDENCE. From Marine Department, Wellington, forwarding Nautical Almanac for 1917.—Received. From Harbors Association, forwarding circular.—Received. From Captain Oox, Greymoa*h, in reference to examination for pilot.— Received ; referred to Marine Department.
From Kanieri Public Hall Committee asking for remission of rates.— Received. Together with a number of other requests were heiu over for the Finance Committee to deal with. From Acting Harbormaster reporting there was a good channel running straight to sea. Since last meeting, on the 2nd, neap tides there were 13 feet, lOtb, spring 14ft, 17th, neap 12ft, 21st, spring 14ft, 3Jst, neap lift.—Receive^. Accounts amounting to £55 12/6 were passed for payment. The Chairman stated that the Clerk (Mr Peake) would probably be called up for service before the end of the month. He had done a lot of work
in opening up the rate books and he felt that tbs Board should esk Mr Peake to find a substitute and the Board could then keep the offita open till his return from service. This suggestion was approved by members and the putting of it into effect was left to tbs Chairman and Mr Peake to arrange. Members also convayed their good wishes to Mr Peake for his safe return. The Board rose at 8 p.m.
