On 3SnovembeT llth,i Mrs. H. P. Muir of Kamahi, gave an afternoon in aid of the funds 6f Stokes Valley Women's Institute. : ■•'• -■

The Clerk of the Weather was in a genial mood and gave of his best in sunshine and warmt&L to add to the pleasure of all who participated. The gardens with late spring and early isummer blooms looked gay and came in for much admiration, while within doors no - trouble had been spared to make the afternoon a tinie of enjoyment for all.; . . ■■' •■ ■ " ' '■'.■■. Amusing competitions -Were entered into with zest and elocutionary items and songs by; Mrs. Tonks (Wellington), were, much appreciated.
