Training of the-powers of observation is one of the objects of t>he scheme. The eyes and brains of'the competitors will have to he relied upfpa rather than what they read or. may .be told. Collections .of grasses and other plants found in. pastures are to be made, the specimen^, to be pressed and counted, and fprwairded for judging not later than; March 31s.t next. . The Society will make arrangements for the correct naming of! the specimens, and the. colleetidns' wfll I^hen,- apart from the allocation o^ prizes, 3fe returned to ;;t>he competitors,-who will thus be in a position to know the individual plants by name and to make a further study of their.habits. ; ; ' .■
