CONCERT IN ADD OF GIRL GUIDE BUILDING FUND.

In spite of the very- unfavourable weather on Tuesday night, September 9th, there were few vacant seats in St. James's Hall, when the popular *' Bluebird Entertainers '' journeyed tram Wellington to give the first enlortainmeint in aid of the Girl Guide Building Fund. The Guidexs have decided to build a room for themselves and their efforts in that direction ■ deserve ev-eury encouragement. There was also a sweet-stall, and"judging by its depleted condition at the dose of

the entertainment, the proceeds should help to fill the coffeis. Tihe stage was prettily decorated for the occasion with greeai«ry, lycopodium, palms, and spring flowers; also trellises, interwoven with artificial plum blossom. The energetic members of the committee who were responsible for' the decorations were: —Mrs Clark, assistd by Mrs. Olphert, Mrs. Foster, Mrs Hosie and Mrs Oliver; Misses Scaly and Stuart-Forbes; also some of the Girl Guides.

The programme was as follows:— Mr. Ernest Sharp, piano solo; Mr. Cyril Brown, elocutionary iitemffi Mr. Cliff Sheitwood, saxapione solo; Mr. Martis. Urwin, humourous item; Mr. Douglas Hogg, song; Mr. ArthuT Leeper, humourous song; Mr. Cyril Tilley, song; Messrs Martin Urwin and. Fitsroy Bobson, humourous duo; Mr. Erie Chung, exhibition, of crayon sketching; Mr. Arthur Leeper, fr&mourous song; Mr. Cliff Sherwood, song; Mr. Douglas Hogg, song; Mr. Cyril Brown> eloieiitionarr item; Mr. Cyril Tilly humourous number; Messrs Urwin aiid Btibsoa "Act Extraordinary." The National Anthem terminated a most enjoyable evening's entertainment. The Girl Guide committee is mostt gratefinl to

this body of entertainers for so willingly giving their services and also to Mr. O. O. Clark for securing tihe "Blue Bird Emteartiainers'.' and to Mts CAark vrh.o, -with, her Imdband, crrganisofl the whole affair.
