PAINTING ON GLASS.

Painting on. glass-ware is a fascinating hobby, and if the . work is done carefully many cheap articles may be daintily decorated thereby. ,

Choose plain glass articles- —Waterjugs, tumiblers, jars, bowls, etc. Wash your article; first, and dry- carefully, leaving no dust oi\ fluff .upon it. Some designs may be purchased in colours; if these are not procurable/ it is a good idea to. ColoTir your design in .water-, colours first. .Then you will know which colour to use on the "Aia.s.s, and so avoid bungling;

Slip ttie design inside the article to be painted and hold it in!plaee toy bits of stamp-paper, or;by a little paste, on the corners'. But make very sure you have the design, straight; if not, your work will be decidedly ugly.

The painting is comparatively easy. Use ordinary tube oil paints, mixed* with a little white enamel. Just paint on the glass over the .design, using the colours in the design.

I am at present engaged upon a pow-der-bowl, tooth-glass aiid. .bath^salts foot: tie—a present for a brideeteet. The design is a bunch of purple and yellow pansiesj and is working out most effectively. I have done a number of plain sweet-dishes, ;vi ride-necked vases, plain sugar-ibowls, tunublers, etc.-,; and have found that these always "make acceptable presents, particularly if the design incorporates the person's favourite flower or colours.
