SUCCESSFUL DANCE.
Despite the great attraction of August 9th,—the Fourth Test match in Wellington—iwhen, as was to 'be expects ed, many remained in town the entire evening,, it was indeed surprising to find that notwithstanding the numer-
O.us entertainments offering in Wellington, the Association Dance in King Georgo Hall y»t proved irrisistable to a large nunuber. Such consistent patronage is.'-tribute indeed to the popularity of ) these fortnightly dances.
On this occasion Pascoe's Gaiety Orchestra of six players gave of their best and praise for these musicians was frequently voiced. Special mention might alst) be made of the fine and tasteful effects with which this orchesti'a -makes t-he platform immediately pleasing to the eye, and the consideration of these details at once classes the baud as one fyvith a real pride in its appearance'as we'll, as in its music.
Just prior to supper-—always* a hearty interlude at Association dances—an exhibition of the latest ballroom dances was given by members of the Southern Colledge Dancing Studios'. Very pleasing and interesting was this display, and heart} 7" applause was accorded by those present to Miss Phyllis Foster and Mr. James Blair, for their exhibition. To Pet one dancers have gone quite a nunitoei' of prizes at Association dances this;■■ season/ and perhaps it might ibe taken as an indication of the continued support of Pet-one dancers that all Monte Carlo prizes were won by Petone patrons on Saturday last, the prize-winners being the Misses Linda Taylor and May Mutimer, and Messrs Thomas/ Mooney and M. Holland. • Confetti and streamers towards the end.of the evening added that appreciated touch of gaiety and beauty to the last of the dances, and if-proof were needed that eveiybody had enjoyed themselves it was found in the fact that as midnight approached the hall was no less crowded than it had been at the height of the dance.
