CHARITY BALL.

A very enthusiastic meeting _ol tlie ■Charity Ball men's committee was held on Tuesday evening,- Mr. A. N. Wallace presiding. The secretary reported that th*e ladies' committee -had held a-most'suc-cessful meeting and had arranged to supply the whole of the supper without any charge on the "funds; this will be serve.d in the dance hall,, leaving the whole of the upstairs accommodation fnee for the ladies' dressing rooms Taking into consideration the great/ numbers that are expected to attend Ijhe Ball, it was thought necessary to provide ample accommodation and •comfort for the supper arrangements. Reports of several fresh donations were received. The opinion was freely expressed that with such a popular orchestra as Mr. Pascpe supplies, the enjoymen.. of the dancers is assured. Most careful arrangements were made for the thorough preparation of the floor and it is cbnifid,ently expected that the subcommittee in charge of t»hese arrangements will give every satisfaction. It .was decided, to place the orchestra on a decorated'platform in the centre of the hall. Members of the committee requiring ' any information as to the various 'arrangements being matle prior to ,the Ball,, may ring the. Borough Council' Office. Mr. Wallace undertook to take charge of' the whole of the decorations and, will be pleased to xcceive further donations of coloured paper. Every man will be expected to -wear a. dap and tihese will be on sale for a small sum in the hall. Mr. Wallace was appointed M.C. Arrangements are feeing made for a special late bus to Wellington. A satisfactory sale of tickets was reported. and arrangements made for a systematic canvas of the district.
