A MANNEQUIN PARADE AT LOWER HUTT.
'She mannequin parade which, recently took place at the Hutt was quite unique *in that it can claim to <be the first event of the kind to take place in this town. Cunningham and Morrison's'^ shop "was the scene of the parade, and a most delightful scene it was. Invitations had been issued to all the patrons of that firm and all who accepted^— and judging by the well-filled room, surely there were few who did not: — spent a thrilling .afternoon. The bliairs ■ •were ranged round the wall, and the 1 mannequins, *who came from Wellington for the purpose, "paraded" theix(beautiful and artistic frocks, coats, etc, and during the afternoon a delicious afternoon tea was served. We cite just a i&w of the charming creations dis- # played. There was a -black French maroeain frock with hand-f agottedcuffs and yoke of shell-pink and black, ; with fitting pointed .bodice, with* tucks .^across the bodice coming to a peak. Another was a becoming little black satiu f rock, with pink emlbroidered cape •collar, and embroidered gauntlet cuffs. Then, an * art black crepe-de-chine en, semble, with beige and black trimming,^ suitable for matron. A very smart little frock was of scarlet, cream spotted art crepe-de-chine, Jiahd-emibroidered collar, and cuffs and loose cape. Another smart little frock was of navy,' white spotted semirier cloth, bolero effect with white fancy, pique collar and cuffs. One of the most artistic ■- toilettes consisted of a most charming many-bued floral ninbn frock, with pie 6t <?d frills, with a floppy hat of saxe t blue crinoline, lined with the floral j niuon. A smart costume was a tailored - bottle-green fancy worsted: and a very attractive afternoon frock was of bottle green satin, flared all round, with collar and scalloped coffe crepe-de-chine, while an afternoon coat "was of navy moire, with bolster-collar and flared skirt. Aniongat_tho .■coatff -w-as. -or- very?"" smart new spring tweed, the latest sJiade and with a big very smart collar: A fitting evening frock of black ninon with uneven hemline, had a black / coatee, and another of white georgette with rhinestone and chrystal bead«j trimming was very tempting; ' A wide Pan-dan straw hat with stra.w medallions in point lace and another with edge of stitched tulle and eire ribbon . bow were equally attractive. There were also some very cosy and effective fur coats. It is pleasing t»hat this unique event proved so successful, for the firm whose iniative was responsible for the venture, certainly earned that success.
