The N.Z. Hockey Shield remains in Qhristab.»!rch. A strong team was sent South last week, but they were unable to wrest the Shield from Canterbury, the game, •resulting in a draw—two goals being scored by each team. Canterbury have now successfully -withstood two -challenges this season, the game with Ota/go also being drawn. SENIOK B. The Senior B (A Team) met.: Varsity A on Hutt No. 1 last Saturday. After a fast and interesting tusscl Varsity emerged winners ,by 6 goals to 3. The first spell ended Varsity 3, Hutt 1. Matthews scored 'f or Hutt-. The second spell was very even, Varsity netting on i three .occasions while Stoupe and judd scored for Hutt. Mr. 0. Harvey ably controlledthe game. Territorially Hufct •had as inu'ch of the game as the visitors but Varsity with that old "war horse" Norm. Jaeobson directing operations,
when in the circle. It was a good hard gamo from start to finish. At Karori the .Senior B (B Team) played a drawn game with 'Huisi both teams registering a goal. JUNIORS. Playing at Butt, Hutt were defeated by Wellington B I—o.1 —0. Both teams played Short, Hutt having seven men and Wellington eight. „ Hutt often had their opponents penned up in their twenty-five but wheii they got near tixo circle they did not seem ,to know what to do with the ball, so they let Wellington clCar it. Hutt forwards should try harder hitting when in the circle. the Thirds lost to KaroTi.
