COMING-OF-AGE PARTIES.
OOMtNO-OF-AaE Mr. and Mrs J. F. McMillan' gave a most enjoyable ilanec in the Tsui Rua HaiU on Thursday evening in honour of the coining of ixgii of their daughter, Miss Edna McMillan. Mr. A. L. Newlyn was the M.C. for the evening, and Mr. Douglas Parsonage contributed two deflighifeful items on the violin "Londonderry Air," and "In a- Monastery fiarderi." He was accompanied at the piano by Mr. Charles Leylands. Peck's OrehestTa was responsible for the dance music. After the usual toasts had been konoured, Mr. McMillan presented iis daughter with a large gold key. Miss 'McMililan .was also the recipient of many other ©harming gifts. Mrs McMillan received her guests wearing a frock of wine-coloured chiflon velvet, iwhile •tine guest of tie evening was in <pale pink satin with frills of tulle and tttlle yoke. Miss J. McMillan wore tan■gerinjo. chenille with mariette frills. Fermiston, A. Heap. Mr, and Mrs. W. Morrison gave a party on Saturday, June liti, in honour «f tlhe coing of age of their son, Mr. Jack Morrison. There mere a/bout forty guests present, all of whom, spent a most jolly evening. The .birthday cake, iwfcieh was the gift and handiwork of a friend, was quite unique. Besides the, usual decorations of silver leaves and horseshoes, the cake was decorated to represent a football field. The football; -was of ibrown icing on which, iwas printed, in pink icing, "Hutt." Nor were .the goal posts missing for the most in-igenou-s cook had consftructed it of angelica, tbooind together wit2i red and white—tihe Hutt Fpatball Club Js colours. Then the stalwart (kc^vine) teata were bravely arranged TOiind the" football field", each flying the Hutt eoloui'S round, the centre of his anatomy! In tke centre of thie field was tihe captain, 1 fcead and shoulders above the rest. This "sporty" cake was., of course, in hon»ar of the guest of the .evening, who is a football entihusiast, Another novel gift was t'iat given to Mr. Jack Momeon by his paxents', and was on their part, a tangible recognition of the fact tihat their son had arrived at years of dispcretion! It took the form of a gunmetal Tale-shaped key mtii •* *21 in ilho centTe. Mr. Dan. McKenzio most ent&usiastieally proposed the health, of .the honoured guest, to which Mr. Morrison responded. Th© hostess was wearing a charming frock of black georgette and gold lace, <whiie Miss Morri- : eon's frock was of lemon georgettei Other guests were Mesdames H. MoTrison, in iblack gieongette, D. McKenaie and Newport, and the Misses Bentley; Newport, E. McDonald, Melntyre "t*), Bella, WiHianns, Jo3ms> Collis, McLaren ■ad Messrs H.
