STOKES VALLEY WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

Stokes Valley Women's Institute has only been in existence just seventeen months, but in that time it has practically trebled its membership. T&is^ rapid growth, "which shows no sign of falling off, is typical of the Institute movement all over the Dominion. The atmosphere of a meeting, its- air of c-heerful comradeship, coupled with a useful demonstration and interesting talk, exerits. such a fascination that the casual visitor invariably becomes a memiber. Mrs. Waring-Taylor, President of the Wellington Provincial Federation, visit.cd Stokes Vally Institute, ait its monthly meeting, on June 12th. and gave a very helpful talk on the privileges, meaning and obligations of Institute niemcberahip, foGlowed by a demonstration of Quilting in both English and Italian styles, giving advice as to suitalbility of materials ,etc, to a keenly interested audience. Mesdames Hoggard (I/ower Hutt) and Jackson (Taita) -expressed appreciation, on behaM of the Plumket Society, of the fact that this Institute ihas undertaken to asseaniblte a Maternity' bag to be sent on loan to necessitous eases. It was also announced that Mrs. JEEu-fney will take charge of the book and magazine, .circle, which promises to be a very successful venture. The meeting closed with, a very •hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. WaringTayflbr.
