BIRTHDAY PARTY.
A very happy evening was spent at (the Tua Knia Hail on May 10th, wflien Mr and Mrs' A. S. H. Payne, otf Belmont, entertained a large nuim'ber ofp friends in honour of the coming of age of their daughter Lillian. Mrs Payne and 'her daughter received the guests, the latter wearing a beautiful frock of white georgette with net and lace overdress, falling in peaks to the ankles. Dancing and games were indulged, in. until supper time, after which the guest of the evening cut the beautiful birthday cake adorned with 2i keiwpies and ."coloured streamers. Mr Payne presented his daughter with* a gold key. Several toasts were honoured and then dancing", songs, etc., were continued nintii midnight. Mr. QV Prier rendered, delightful music for. the dancing. Miss Joan Wright (Martinborougih) sang sweetly, Mr. Bellve entertained with songs at tQie piaiio, Mr. F. 'Boyes, elio>eu'tionary items;, Mi| Frank Bryant with Mr. Len Bryant at the piano and Mr. Fred Bryant violin, rendered some beautiful songs. A happy evening came to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." The catering was splendidily carried out by Messrs P. S. Taylor and Son, Lower Hutt.
