MOERA RATEPAYERS' LEAGUE.
The ordinary -monthly- meeting was held on 22nd. May, Mr Sutherland presiding. Much good 'work-has been done by the Committee since it was formed "on 31st March. Many complaints have been forwarded to the 'Council and on the. whole satisfactory results have been obtained; although' there are still some urgent matters to be contended with, such as re-surfa,cing. footpaths, the condition of Rahdwiek Road, and storm-water' drainage. A petition has been received, from residents of Elizabeth .Street asking the League's assistance in the obtaining of adequate storm Avater drainage. This petition has been forwarded to Mr. Nash, M.P., and an.endeavour will be made to have him.'-.'present, at the general quarterly meeting to be held on. June 19th. The Committee is of the opinion that stonnwater drainage is essential to the whole of the district. The Committefc isi.approaching the Railway Department re the running of another- train between the hours of 6.9 p.m. and 10.16 p.m. as this greatly effects ..the returning home of many workers in the district. Also as to the obtaining of a 6-ride 4/6 ticket for use on either train or bus, in preference to the 9/- 12-ride ticket now in use. • Many residents have already joined the League and this year promises to be a very successful one. It is safe to say that the roll this year will be the biggest since the League started, and already it. is in a good position financially. The League urgently requests all members to be present at the quarterly meetings, as this will greatly assist the work now in pro^ gress.
