LADIES' and GENTLEMEN'S MINIATURE' RIFLE CLUB.
A very jolly evening was spent recently, when the ladies and 'gentlemen of the above elu<b met socially to celebrate their recent success. The ladies' shield,; which has ibccn woii locally is competed for throughout Wellington, so all honoitr is due to the .lioca.l teg-m for winning- it. The Hutt men's team have "won the Osmand Shield on several occasions and are the ■winners of the first round for this season —Jienee their juiibliation! Cards were indulged in during- the evening, and Mrs Cavaye was the winner of the silver badge for the ladder -competition, being challenged by Mrs Pelham. This is tsh.e second occasion on which Mrs Cavaye >as won the ;badge. The ladies supplied a dainty supper, the gentlemen toasting the ladies who responded in like manner, and t-Jie singing of "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" brought a pleas.ant evening to a close.
