ST JAMES' CLUB DANCE.
Held in St. James's Hall on Friday nigfot, the first dance of the season under the auspices of St. James's Club proved, in spite of the inclement weather, a very jolly function. The -hall was tra.ns.fomied into an attractive ballroom, decorated with yellow and green streamers, and was a pleasing contrast to the murkiness without. The Star Orchestra (Wellington), supplied tihe delightful and vigorous accompaniment to the dancing, and Mr. Gooxge Hill made a most efficient M.C T&e chaperons at this happy affair were Mesdames HanseM, in henna georgette; Tait,> blue lace; Toswill, green satin; House, black georgette and silver lace; Stoupe, black georgette; AAdous, brown georgette and lace; Yates, black georgette; Welch, black georgette and gold lace. OtheTS present were Mesdames Exeley^ •green georgette; Jollands, black silk; Fisfoer,,. pink taffeta and net; Bush, mauve georgette skirt, with floral bodice; and the Misses Foster, pink>ilk, with sequined over-dress; Jollands, floral ninon; Noad, pink georgette; Baigent, pale blue georgette; Glover, ] pink taffeta; Hunter, flame georgette;' B. Weflioh, pale blue figured taffeta and j net; Tate, blue floral taffeta; B. Jones, bluie taffeta; Ross ,mauve taffeta; J. Welch> black taffeta; Hardcastle, lemon ! georgette; Shrewsbury (Auckland) pink lemibossed georgette; Phear, black taffeta B. Hamilton, cream satin; Millington, red velvet;. Aldous, salmon crepe de chine; B. Wilson, black silk and net; M. Lee, pink" net /frilled skirt; Morrison, pink georgette.
