CHESS CLUB FORMED.
An enthusiastic meeting of chess players from fche'.Hutt Vailey took place on Tuesday evening -wiherr a club, to be •called" The Hutt Valley Ohess Club" iwa.s formed. Until the players met it (vras not knonnrfi that there are over forty chess', enthusiasts in the valley.
. The'following ..officers■•were elected:— President, Mr. j^.' :Wig&&mj Vice Presi-> •dents: Messrs R: Tuppen,G. L. Giesen, G. Hi ' Hignett and V Gr. ~E, GTantham; ■Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. Gr. L. Giesen; Asst. Seeretaiy, Mr. E. W. Meek; Lribrarian, Mr. A. Jaanieson; Auditor, . Mr. E. P. Lambert. Committee; Messrs J. Ottoway, J. PicMes, W. A. Pisiker and P. Morine.
The meeting night will be determined during fine next few days as complete information concerning halQs available ■could mot be obtained in time for the meetimg. Notices will be sent to players -during the nexit day or two eonicernang the night and place of meeting. Those anxious to join the club, and particularly those who wish to Jlearn to play chess shoiifLd, send their address too Mr. G-iesen, Woburn Road, and notice will be sent them before t-he opening night. -■*■■.
It is anticipated that some players from Wellington will attend the opening of the 'cluib and an interesting evening is assiuTed. Chess is the •game of kings, and the king of games, and it is hoped that a strong club will be the result of this effort.
