LOWER HUTT MAN KILLED

A faAal accident occurred on Fridajj at 12.45 p.m, when a well known Lowe* •Hutt resident, Thomas Orook, a baker, who is a married man, residing at 26 Kiwi Street, was killed, ins-tantaneotisly.

The late Mr. Orook, who was tks second son of Mrs H. Crook <y£ Peilding, was the second white child to be born in that town.

At the inquest conducted, by the Goir.oner, Mr, W. H. Woodward, the following verdict was returned:—That deceased died at Lcnver Hutt on the 9th. May 1930 as the result of a collision, between a motor bread delivery van in which he was being driven by his son Claude Victor Crook and a inoitor cox driven by James Park Laurie. The evidence shows no negligence on tSie pant of the driver of t<he car.

Mr. H. Na&r, of "WcstpoTt, received a wire from Qhristehureh of the1 death: at the hospital there of Miss Annie Foiey. The late Miss Foley had been 4 lady companion to Mrs W. Naihr', senr., and later with Mrs H. JSTahr, where she xesded till recently, when she left for Christehflirch for the bettermenrtr off her health and entered the hospital to undergo treatment/ wihere she died as above stated. Miss Foiey was highly, esteemed: by a large circle of^friendß in Westport and district. Miss Folej was a sister of Mrs T. Crook,, of Kiwi Street, Lower Hu'tt. :
