OFFENCE AT *LOWER HUTT
Sentence of three months' imprisonment was passed on Arthur Herbert Scarrott, plumber and labourer (32) in the Auckland Police Court on Saturday for the theft at Lower Hutt on April 8 of a" man's overcoat and felt hat. Detective Sergeant^ Kelly said that Scarrott was at present serving, two months' imprisonment at the Mount Eden gaol in respect to a maintenance order. When interviewed -by Detective Snedden concei'ning the theft of the complainant's property he frankly admitted the offence. '

Detective .Sergeant Kelly said that the bbardinghouse 'proprietor said that accused left with a bro^ii paper parcel. There was no suggestion that he was inebriated.
