On 'iha.Tsch«y night a most jolly social e\oung was spent in the Scouts' Hall uudc tln v f-.uspices of t>ho above club, ■when di i <ing, cards and muskr whilcd awhy the time in a most enjoyable manner. The social was . anticipatory to the racial opening of the Range, Trtndi took place on Tuesday riigat. Then; were aboiii a hundred present and the hall looked very gay with its orange and black streamers and paper lant-itns. The programme was contributed hy the Misses E. Haydn and CarrieU. tie ioiwcr giving elocutionary items, w}i'<a were encored, whilst Miss 'Carrick de!ighir.J her audience with lict singing and Mr. Donkin made a' most •efficient M.C Several competitions were held, excellent prizes being presented to the winners in tie Spot Waltz and Monte Carlo, the "Five Hundred" winnei-s being: Ladies,-' Mrs Parkin Ist. ■Gentlemen, Mr. Dudding Ist. A< •"Lucky Chair" competition was also held,"'-for: wihich Mr. Inglis carried off 'the prize. The pianist / for the dancing was Mr. F. Staig and extras were play-" od by Mrs Walsh and Mr." O. Prior, while Mr. G. Skipage assisted witk his violin.
