HUTT DENTAL CLINIC,

The following Demtal Clinic report was presented at all •householders' meetings on Monday evening:-^-

With the continued increase in the population in the district the work has^ been exceptioatiJiV heavy so muc'lv so that, the DepaTtment was compelled:, to supply a relief nurse. N"viT;?o'Deiirps'ter Te^ortod for duty in Oetouer and remained until the eomiuor.eomcnt of tho

sumrper vacation. This had the effect of' providing treatmemt for many, of the most urgent cases and enabled Nurse Cornwall to ease .up somewhat in hef effort to keep track of t-he -nrdrk.

-The committee have pleasure in reporting that advice has been received of .the Department's intention to appoint a permanent additional. nurse, who would take up duty on the 28fch

April

T-hanks to the assistance of the Low

er Hutt Borough Council marked improvements have been affected dt the rooms in the painting of the interior at no expense to the eqminittee.

We (.lesire to place on record^our appreciation of the continuance of grants' from both the Borough and Hutt County

Councils

With the appointment of an additional nurse the committee is faced with an increased expenditure having to provide additional sterelising accoiuodation as well as a sink and draining board. This is estimated to cost £20 and the committee would appreciate the assistance of parents in the matter. This can be. done either through the school delegates or "by placing donations in the contrbution box in the vestibule at the clinic.

The committee rcgTets to have to record the fact fchat.the support previously given to the flnaneial side of the clinic was not as generous as in past years and they feel that many are of the opinion that all expenses are met" by the Department, the committee are, however ,responsible for rent, cleaning, lighting and heating and while calls can. be made, on the school committees it is not desirable that a reversion to that form of securing funds' should be neces^ry. Knowing1 as we do <lpw diffi cult it is for many scihopls to provide for their own' particular work. An appeal 'is therefore made that 'when allocating your available funds you-will not forget the claims of the HuttDen' tal Clinic. .
