NEW POSTAL FACILITIES

In order to provide for the increased demands of the Hultt District, the postal

authorities have agreed to make con-

siderable improvement in the local mail delivery service. The stall' of postmen which, three years ago numbered seven/ has now been increased to twelve, in addition to a supervisor and a sorter. This rearrangement of staff will enable the load per man to be reduced and the round of ea>ch postman shortened, so , that the householder in most cases will j receive his mail about one hour earlier than in the past. In addition to t>Ma innovation the whole of the Hutt borough, with the exception of the j southern end of Gracefield, will enjoy 41 twice daily delivery 'service. Twelve additional postal boxes will be distributed throughout the district and will.be cleared twice and in s.ome cases three • times a day. "We give below a list of these boxes, with the time of clearing. It will be noted that the clearing commences a-t 6 a.m, which will enable letters to be delivered in the city by the letter carriers leaving

the ChP.O at 8 a.m.

*The residents of the H-utt boroiugh will, we feel sure, be grateful for this evidence of the interest of the P and T. Department, w3xi«h brings us another step neai'er to Wellington. The new delivery service will come into operation on 12th inst.
