ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
.•A meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power "Board was h eld last week". There were present Mr. A. W. Press (chairman) aad Messrs J. W. Me^ Ewan, : AY "Walker, A. J/ Hobbs, : :E;
Windley and A. J. McCurdy.
-Kpologies were received from Messrs S. Blackley, W. H. P. Barber, A. Anderson and L. Stewart, who were unable ' to be present.
The Steelite Steel Company's offer to supply special steel for the sum of £150 was accepted by the Board subject to the steel"being landed at the Board's yard for-that amount. •
' The- chairman (Mr A. W. Press) andi the Engineer-General Manager (Mr E. F. Hollands) were, appointed to represent the Board at the enquiry to be held at Wellington on June 4th for the purpose of defining the regional town planning boundaries of the city and surrounding districts. .
Accounts amounting to £15,919/1/5 were passed for payment.
The Engineer-General Manager's report for the month ended April 9th was as follows:— /
Poles have been set to new curb line I in Lower Hutt on Knights Road and.! White's line East and work of chang- \ ing over E.H.T. ,H.T. and L.T. circuit)
to new poles is well underway. Chargeable poled ■service lines have been" con-
structed at Hutt River mouth, ..Silverstifam (2), Avalon Park, Lowry-Bay, and Normandale. ~
Air break switches _ for tying in the Railway Department feeders with those of Hutt Valley erected outside Petone Woollen Mills, and have been in operation on test. . •
Street lighting alterations on Rand-wick-Boad, Lower Hutt have been cqmmence&i and are now nearly completed.
Fitting of through crossings on Post and Telegrah poles on. Hutt Road completert and extension on Post and Telegraph poles in Richmond Street r Petone, and Martin^Sfreet, Upper Hutt.
Tap-off pole comer Jaefeson Street and Patrick Street, Petone, overhauled atid insulators changed where necessary, also on poles in Marsden Street and Ludlam Crescent.
Fifty poles were erected and 87, service connections installed. '* -
During the period 114 tests nave been carried out on new installations .and 62 tests of additions to old installations.
Several faults occurred during the period but these were soon discovered and rectified. f \
Wiring of Puriri Street Substation has been overhauled. Street'- lighting cable installed western end of new Hutt Bridge and is now awaiting erection of lamp standards. - '
